Mural Abstracts
For some time, I have enjoyed taking photographs of very small sections of urban wall murals that I feel could stand on their own as abstract images. These are typically exceedingly small segments of the much larger mural.
I recently made these two images and decided to try something a bit different. They were of black paint on cinder block that was painted white. But rather than make that apparent, I thought I would ‘blow out’ the background so as to make the abstract even more abstract and appear simply as black lines on a white background without any indication of where they came from.

These are the results. I find them to be interesting and completely removed in appearance from what they actually were. I would like to try more of these, but it would have to be of murals on a white or black background which aren’t all the typical
