Two For One

 

There are times when I have an image I like, but it still feels like something is missing. Like the whole image doesn’t necessarily stand alone. But on closer inspection, parts of it look like a complete composition and appeal to me. In those cases, a decisive crop can yield an image that feels complete. Especially when that crop yields a non-random shape, like a square (I love the square format). Even better if you can pull two compositions from the same abstract image.

It just looked a bit busy to me (though, to be honest, sometimes I look at it and say I do like it as is). Can you see the two square compositions within it that I thought might be more appealing than the original? Here is the first:
