Bandon Memories

In my last blog post, I wrote about photographing my Gelli plate acrylic paint-based monoprints to make abstract images. I also had made one such print that resembled a landscape, and so I ended up blending in several photographs to make it appear like one. I enjoyed doing that, so I looked through my Gelli print photos to see if I might find another one that was reminiscent of a landscape.

The one I found one reminded me of the ocean, which brought me back to my visits (and part-time work) on the Oregon Coast. I blended five photos into the Gelli print, with the main one being an image I had made of sea stacks at Bandon Beach. Hence the title “Memories of Bandon".”

The completed image is below and it really was fun to construct.

In case anyone is interested, the Gelli print alone, as it came out of Lightroom (which was the starting point for the image), is seen below. This served as the base layer for the completed image.
